The biggest mistake buyers make when choosing a real estate agent

Background
People have a misconception that buyer's agent works for the buyer and competes against the seller's agent who works for the seller to get the lowest possible price.

Hopefully by now, after reading my previous articles you know that is not the case. You should know the odds are really stacked against you, the buyer. You should know by now it is more like you versus, the seller, the seller's agent and your buyer's agent.

One against three are bad odds. So to stack the odds in your favour isn't just about gambling and hoping you find an honest agent. Dishonest agents have been trained to pretend to be honest. It is hard to detect the difference. So there is a smarter way, a more full proof way.

The full proof way to should be looking for real estate agents that are experience enough to assist you, but not experience enough to trick you!

Side note - Life of a Real Estate Agent
On side note, one may wonder why real estate agents end up becoming such crooks. Well, before we jump to conclusions, we must understand what Real Estate Agent has to live through.

To become a Real Estate Agent, one has to pay thousands of dollars for certifiations. The exam, itself, is not hard, but the cost is used to cover all the organizations that want a piece of the pie. Once a person becomes an agent, he contunue to pay thousands of dollars each year to keep his license. Once again, more money for the real estate organizations that claim they do really good stuff.

So having to give away all this money, Real Estate Agents are now pressured. They are pressured to make trasactions in order to live and survive. If they don't make get their clients to buy and sell, they go broke.

Statistically speaking, what happens to an agent in their first two years, is learning the ropes. It will either make them or  break them. 40% of real estate agents don't make any sales in their first year. 50% quit after two years because the pressure and cost is too much.

More importantly, 20% of real estate agent make 80% of the transaction and I am willing to bet, most of those 20% learn to become crooks in order thrive. Who are these crooks stealing from? You, the buyer! The rest of the real estate agent are eating cookie crumbs and wondering whether they can survive.

It is no wonder the real estate housing keeps going up. It is the only way for real estate agents to make more money.

Bottom line
So knowing what you know about the life of a real estate agent, would you want an experience real esate agent or an inexperience one?

Simply put, you are hiring a buyers agent, which is equivalent to a salesperson. This salesperson only profits and profits more when he sells the house at the highest possible price. Would you want one that knows how to do it or would it want one that doesn't have a clue?

The answer is you want one that doesn't have a clue. You want an inexperience real agent. You want an agent that is experience enough to help you, but not experience enough to trick you. You do not want one that has 20 plus years experience because those are the ones who has enough skills and knowledge to trick you.

Generally speaking, an honest agent has less then 5 years of experience. There after, they start learning how to trick you. Now, that is only generally speaking.

What you to get out of this article is simply, experience, socialable and smart real estate agents is not what you are looking for. Average intellegent, honest, naive ones are!
