Aside from money, what are other factors that should be considered when
purchasing a home?
Buying a house is not just based on the value, but there is lifestyle rpeference
that ones has to be aware of. Thus the factors below introduce things you will
have to do to maintain the house.
The government makes it your responsibility to shovel the snow.
Simply put, the shorter the sidewalk, the less work it is for you to shovel.
The houses with the shortest sidewalks are those who do not have one. Houses
that ae built in a new small community may not have a sidewalk.
There is a small chance the government may build a sidewalk, but that
is based on how often the sidewalk is used
The second shortest sidewalk length are concave streets
cresent houses. These houses also have smaller lawns thus making lawn mowing
easier.
Sometimes, the governent shovels the sidewalk because it a walkway for children
to get to school.
The larger the lawn, the more time you have to spend mowing it. Generally,
people prefer small front yards and big backyards.
New homes generally utilize this concept by making the front lawn smaller and a
large back yard.
Once again, houses that have a concave street cresent has smaller front yards.
The worse home is the corner lot. Corner lots will have two front yards and a
small backyard. The front yard is often gigantic. However, if you build a fence,
you may minimize this privacy issue.
Big homes mean bigger and more costly maintenance, higher property tax and
higher insurance cost. One may argue that a house is an investment, but house
size is not a factor in the appreciation of a house.
Thus, look for homes that is of fitting size and larger if you are planning to
have children, but not any bigger.
Being near school is convenient for children. Being right beside the school
could cause a lot of noise and property damage.
Being near a subway and buse stops is an added value to house. Being near a
railroad track is a negative. Often, theses houses that have a railroad track in
the backyard would be worth less than $10 000 than one that doesn't. Railroad
tracks is an indicator of loud train noises.
